English Students: Tuition and Maintenance loan update [NOVEMBER 2024]
On the 4th of November, the government made several announcements affecting English students in regard to university. These changes will take effect at the start of the 2025 to 2026 academic year.
1. The maximum tuition fee cap has been raised by 3.1%. Below is a table containing maximum fees for each degree type:

After leaving study, student loan borrowers will NOT see their monthly student loan repayments increase as a result of these changes
If a borrower’s income is below the repayment threshold, repayments are not required. After 40 years, any outstanding loan debt (including interest) will be written off.
2. There will be an increase in cash-in-hand support of 3.1% – a maximum of £414 may be given extra to help students from lower income families. Below are maintenance loan figures that reflect this change.
